Get ready to shop smart and save big during the popular Discounted VAT Rate Days, happening on Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16, 2025. Just in time for the back-to-school season, these two powerful days will slash the VAT on eligible goods from 17% to just 5%, a grade-A opportunity for parents, students, and savvy shoppers alike! Even better, from July 1 to September 30, 2025, specific school supplies will benefit from a 0% Discounted VAT rate, giving families extra room in their budgets as they prepare for the new academic year.
WHAT’S INCLUDED?
Approved VAT-registered businesses across the Federation will offer:
- 5% VAT on tangible goods in stock
- Items must be issued or delivered on VAT Day to qualify
In Stock = In Luck. Pre-orders and items not available for immediate delivery do not qualify for the reduced
rate.

Important Reminder for Participants:
- Approved Business shall be published on IRD’s website on or before August 15, 2025
- All approved businesses must submit their VAT Day Sales Report to the Inland Revenue Department on or before September 01, 2025.
- The Concession Sales Schedule applicable to businesses selling school supplies at the 0% Discounted VAT Rate should be submitted to the Inland Revenue Department with the VAT Return for the relevant tax period.
