BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 20, 2025 – The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has announced the final phase of its major tax administration upgrade, known as SMARTS — a modern, secure, and citizen-focused platform designed to improve the delivery of tax services across the nation.

As part of this transformation, the IRD is calling on all PROPERTY TAXPAYERS — particularly those who have not yet registered for the new system — to log in online, create their SMARTS account, and verify the accuracy of their migrated information.

Widespread participation is essential to the successful modernization of the national tax infrastructure.
Accurate taxpayer information is the foundation of efficient public service delivery. When taxpayers take a moment to register and validate their accounts, they are actively supporting a stronger and more responsive revenue system that benefits the entire nation.

The Department emphasizes that the SMARTS upgrade is not only a technological milestone but also an investment in national development. Improved efficiency in tax administration allows government to allocate resources more effectively toward healthcare, education, social programs, public safety, and national infrastructure.

With the Christmas season approaching, the IRD is encouraging citizens to include SMARTS registration and validation on their holiday to-do lists, noting that early compliance ensures a seamless experience in 2026 and beyond.

The Inland Revenue Department thanks taxpayers for their continued cooperation and partnership in building a better St. Kitts and Nevis for all.
