
St. Kitts and Nevis Inland Revenue Department, Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 10, 2026: Customers and businesses are to mark their calendars for the upcoming Discounted Value Added Tax (VAT) Rate Day on April 17, 2026. During this day, eligible tangible items currently subject to the standard 17% VAT rate will qualify for a reduced VAT rate of 5%
Eligible Items:
All tangible items that are usually subject to a 17% VAT will benefit from the discounted rate, except for the following:
- Vehicles
- Guns
- Ammunition
- Cigarettes
- Alcoholic Beverages (including Wine, Brandy, Vodka, Whiskey, Gin, Rum, Liqueurs, Cordials, Beer,
Guinness, Royal Stout, Shandy Carib, and Smirnoff Ice)
Non-Eligible Items:
Non-tangible items such as the supply of professional services will remain subject to the 17% VAT rate. These services include but are not limited to:
- Legal fees
- Restaurant supplies
- Rent
- Tickets for games of chance (lottery/raffles)
- Top-ups
- Phone cards
Important Dates for Consumers:
- April 16, 2026: Publication Day of the list of taxpayers registered to participate in the Discounted Value
Added Tax Rate Days.
Important Dates for Businesses:
- April 14, 2026: Application Deadline for businesses to participate.
- April 16, 2026: Publication Day of the list of taxpayers registered to participate.
- May 01, 2026: Due Date for the submission of the Sales Report.
